Which Specialty Size Do You Need?

Standard sheet sizes don't fit adjustable bases properly — they bunch, pop off, and fight the base every time you adjust. Here's how to find the right fit.

Two completely separate Twin XL mattresses sitting side by side in a King frame. Each side adjusts 100% independently.

  • Best for couples with different sleep preferences
  • Each side needs its own fitted sheet
  • Most common adjustable base configuration
  • Same total width as a standard King
For Tall Sleepers

Split Cal King

2 × 36″ wide × 84″ long (72″ × 84″ total)

Two separate Cal King halves side by side. Four inches longer than Split King but slightly narrower. Designed for taller sleepers.

  • Best for couples where one or both sleepers are 6′ 2″+
  • Each side adjusts independently
  • Narrower per side than Split King (36″ vs 38″)
  • Requires a Cal King adjustable base
Head-Only Bases

Top Split King

76″ × 80″ (one mattress, split at top third)

One King-size mattress with a horizontal split approximately 1/3 down from the head. The foot stays connected as one piece.

  • Best for bases that only elevate the head
  • One fitted sheet covers the whole bed
  • Feels more like a traditional bed when flat
  • Less common than Split King
Smaller Rooms

Split Queen

2 × 30″ wide × 80″ long (60″ × 80″ total)

Two separate mattress halves in a Queen frame. Each side adjusts independently. Great for couples who want adjustable base benefits in a smaller room.

  • Best for smaller bedrooms that can't fit a King
  • Each side is narrower (30″) than Split King
  • Each side needs its own fitted sheet
  • Less widely available than Split King
